New Don: Jackie Shroff is exploring options in Kollywood

One-time Bollywood hunk Jackie Shroff is looking for newer pastures. He makes his debut in the Tamil film, Aaranya Kaandam. Thiagarajan Kumararaja is directing the film, and famous actor-playback singer SPB's son Charan is the producer. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music.

After the success of Chennai 6000018, Charan has decided to produce "meaningful" cinema. The film was launched in Chennai with a pooja followed by a press meet. Jaggu dada told reporters, "I enjoy working in southern projects. There are lots of talented technicians and creative persons associated with such projects.u00a0I have a special association with SPB because he sang for me in many of my early films."

Jackie has acted in a Telugu film, which was later dubbed in Tamil as Vangi. So what's suave Shroff's role in Aaranya Kaandam? "My character has negative shades. I have 26-year-old bond with the Tamil film industry.

Rajinikanth, Ilaiyaraja, SPB and A R Rahman are legends in their own right. In my Hindi film, Uthkarshan, I played Rajinikanth's brother. We forged a great bond. In spite of his busy schedule, he attended my wedding. He sets great store by friendship," gushed Jackie.

Model turned actress Yasmin Ponnappa is the lead heroine in Kumararaja's debut film.
