Mumbai: Amateur DanceSport Federation of India President, Mr Arvind Kumar, remarked while announcing the 2021 National BreakDance Championship to be held at Mumbai on 23rd and 24th October, 2021, "With the addition of breaking to the Olympic Games Paris 2024, organizers hope to appeal to youth and capitalize on the dance sport's popular global urban vibe". Dancers who want to compete could see the FB page called AIDSF DanceSport. Registrations are open from 7th to 30th September 2021.
Mr. Arvind kumar, is the pioneer of DanceSport in India from as early as 1996. He introduced the sport to India, when his own daughter, Kumar Angelika expressed interest and showed talent for it. Under the guidance of Mr. Arvind Kumar and the DanceSport Federation of India, Kumar Angelika has won more than 5 gold medals in world and international Championships for the Country.
Mr. Arvind Kumar and General Secretary Biswajit Mohanty also revealed that they are going to launch the India Dance League from where the national team will be selected. "League will be a purely breaking championship. By the time the championship ends, we shall be able to select dancers who will take part in the national team. Breakdance will be part of the 2024 Paris Olympics and if we start preparations early, we shall be able to win a medal there," Arvind kumar said.
There is a new addition to the federation with the well known name, Mr. Ashwani Kumar, the producer and chairman of K.N films, who has given us thrilling experiences with his Bollywood movies such as Sayonee and Hai Apna Dil To Awara. He has been appointed as the Director Media & Marketing, ADSFI promote DanceSport in India, and to represent ADSFI to lead its public relations efforts locally and internationally. Mr. Ashwani Kumar said "I am honored to be a part of this great team and join it at a time when it will grow exponentially with the support of the global and India Olympics Committees. Arvind Kumar also confirmed that they have started a nationwide tour of spreading the gospel of DanceSport and that they are preparing to hold the Breakdance championships on October 30 and 31 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The top athletes from the break dance championships will automatically qualify to represent India for the 2022 world and international Championship. District and regional championships are to be organised from which the best crews will be picked to compete for the national breakdance championship.
"Uninterrupted complete body dance choreography, limited use of gymnastics and aerobics, use of original signature moves, and use of a variety of dance styles will earn a crew the highest number of points," Mr. Arvind kumar stressed. The Break dance championship is aimed at attracting at least 45 participants in different categories which include one-man crew, mega crew, and breaking contests of which all will be competing to take-home medals and battles.

The sport of Breaking also known as break dancing is an urban street dance style originating in New York in 1970s. The International Olympic Committee recognises the worldwide appeal and growth of Breaking, as exemplified by the success of Breaking's three medal events at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina, where upwards of 30,000 people came each day to see the competition. Since then, Breaking's Olympic journey has moved from strength to strength. The 2019 WDSF World Breaking Championship, held in Nanjing, China, was hailed as an outstanding success. Over 150 b-boys and b-girls from 66 countries, including some of the biggest names in Breaking, competed at the event. The 2020 edition of the championship, also set to take place in Nanjing, was postponed to 2021 as a result of the pandemic. DanceSport boasts of millions of athletes all over the world with 112 countries having its federation and 94 are recognized by the National Olympic Committee. Dance sport is the regular event of Asian games and Indoor Asian games. DanceSport has been included in 2018 World Youth Games AIDSF has also sent its teams to Asian Indoor Games in Macau 2007 and Vietnam 2009, 2017 Asian Indoor & Martial Art Games in Turkmenistan.
