Dear Diana,
I'm a 24-year-old who recently shifted to Mumbai from Srinagar. I've been reading your column for sometime now and thought of writing you. I'm terribly homesick. I miss my life back there. I joined an IT firm and have no issues with my job. But something tells me I ain't cut out for this fast-paced city. I've made a few friends at work but that's that. I hardly get to interact with anyone outside office. I know that this change will help my career in the long run but my mind is clouded and I often think of packing my bags and heading back home.u00a0

Dear Nabeel,
This is because you are still new to the city. It will take a while for you to settle down. And then you will never want to leave it. Ask those millions out there who don't want to go back to where they came from and have made Mumbai their home. You may feel lonely initially as you don't known people around. You say your office life is okay, so you need to work on your personal front. Make friends in the neighbourhood or depending on time available join a social group. You can also connect with people from your hometown who are there. They in turn can introduce you to some more people. Remember, your line of work has more scope here than back in the Valley.
