Did you think that only adults can create cool, animation movies and games? A two-day online workshop organised by Toiing, an e-learning games company, founded by IIM alumni, will change that perception. Designed for seven-to-14 year-olds, the two-day workshops will teach the art of storytelling with the use of stop motion animation and storyboarding.
Stop motion animators combine photography, narrative skills and lighting to create one of the most unique forms of animation, which is neither cartoon-like nor similar to computer-generated animations. The session, hosted by Cyrus Broacha and stop motion expert Rucha Dhayarkar, will include a mix of live instructions and recorded content.
"Cyrus makes the whole learning process a lot of fun. He's witty and keeps the kids engaged while also highlighting all the important instructions given by Rucha who is an alumnus of BAU, Design College, Barcelona and Shrishti School of Design in Bengaluru," says Simon Jacob, founder and CEO, Toiing. Keeping in mind the fact that children today already spend a lot of time on their gadgets for online schooling, Toiing's courses are short and created in the workshop format. Each session is about an hour and a half long, and gives learners the chance to make their own animation videos using the stop motion studio app. This is followed by other fun, in-class activities with after-class projects and assignments.

The workshop is a part of a Life Skills Summer Camp, a two-month online learning fest where kids can learn skills such as video content creation, lateral thinking and design. "We wanted to equip children with new-age communication skills that are increasingly in demand in today's ever-evolving, competitive, work environment," says Jacob.
