Case 1

The family of Netra Telathi, a dentist who was brutally murdered by unknown persons on March 5 this year, wants the accused to be caught and punished.

Wilfred and Prakash

Her father and husband, who spoke to the media for the first time, say they will never get Netra back but want the killers to be punished.

Her father Prakash said, "She was a calm and intelligent girl, bothered only about her family and work. She did not have enemies. We just can't believe she was killed. We want to know why."

The loss is even greater for her 10-year-old daughter Priyanka (name changed). Her husband Wilfred Mascarenhas of 12 years but has known Netra since childhood said, "We have to accept and move on, but it is difficult for our daughter."

Said Priyanka's grandfather Prakash, "Priyanka is currently in Egypt with Netra's brother and his wife. She will return and we are planning to shift her to Egypt permanently, so that she can get the love of both father and mother. It will help her overcome this."

Senior police inspector Arvind Patil of Koparkhairane station, said, "We have not been able to solve the case.
Work is on." Netra's gold chain, earrings and cash of more than Rs 6,500 were also robbed.

Case 2

On the afternoon of March 27, 2008, senior citizen Khorshed Dick was stabbed to death at her residence at Borivali. Police suspected a painter who was working at her place, but have not been able to track him.

According to her nephew, Darius J Engineer, "There was some painting and renovation work going on at my aunt's place. Work was on through a contractor Rajvir Singh. He had introduced her to a painter Ashraf Pathan." He added, "The work was going slow and my aunt had a fight with the painter, warning him to complete the work soon. On the day after the murder, I got a call from Singh saying that Pathan had called him on the day of the murder and said that he had seen the dead body and fearing for his life, had gone to his native place in Ahmedabad.

"Police were sure that the painter had committed the crime and claimed to have visited his place, but could not get him. The intention was robbery, but the painter did not find anything and killed my aunt. We went to the police station and also crime branch, but no one has been able to catch hold of the man. No one is taking interest in cracking the case."

Police claim that investigations are on, but they have not been able to arrest the accused.
