Ahmedabad seeks to overtake Mumbai in battle of the dosa
If you think that Mumbai is the capital of the longest traffic queues in the world, revise that rather unflattering opinion.
Mumbai, in fact, holds the Guinness world record for the longest dosa, a 30-foot long concoction created at the Sankalp restaurant in Andheri on February 12, 2006.

He added, "Sankalp has been chosen because it is a South Indian restaurant and pure vegetarian."
Quick Gun Murugan, taken from a character on a music channel, is a Sambhar-style cowboy who battles with villains promoting non-vegetarian food, while he promotes vegetarian food.
Explained Jolly, "In fact, after the 30-foot long dosa was made in Mumbai, we put it on our regular Sankalp menu in Ahmedabad.
Patrons can have it by placing an order one day in advance. One needs at least 40 people to eat the dosa and it costs Rs 5,000.
We make it at a specially designated place, which is 42-foot long, outside the restaurant's kitchen."
Sankalp restaurant unit head, Amal Saha, from its Mahavir Nagar, Kandivli (W) branch, said, "Our Andheri branch, where the 30-ft dosa was made, closed some time ago.
At Kandivli, we have a four-ft long dosa on our regular menu. It costs Rs 500."
Quick Gun Murugan is directed by Mumbai-based director Shashank Ghosh who directed Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II, which has the well-known track Allah Ke Bande. It is slated for an August 28 all-India release.
