After 10 minutes, the principal handed him the certificate. He left immediately after that," said a peon.
Confirming the visit, Naik said, "I belong to a reserved category and I needed a caste certificate for my son's admission in an architectural institution.
I thought my caste would've been mentioned in my leaving certificate. Since it wasn't, I needed a new one."
After leaving the school in 1974, Naik joined the technical school run by the same management and completed his diploma in civil engineering.
