The greed of beer makes people do weird things and in this case, the love for the frothy ale landed a group of three men in jail.
The Sewree police arrested three men for robbing Excel plastic company situated near the Coal depot in Sewree on September 10 and fleeing with three mobiles and an LCD television set. Police have identified the accused as Asgar Ali Sheikh, Jabbar Sheikh and Mohammad Khan. Cops revealed that during investigation, the accused confessed that they had committed the thefts to buy huge amounts of beer for themselves. A police official, on condition of anonymity said, "The gang used to commit a robbery, and later used the booty to purchase around 200-300 bottles of beer and throw a party."
In fact, when the police raided their house in Kausa, after receiving a tip-off, authorities found more than 150 bottles of beer lying around in the place. "When we raided the room in Kausa, we recovered 150 bottles of beer, two choppers and an axe. They used to spend most of their money in purchasing and drinking beer," said Senior Inspector Rajan Bhogale, Sewree police station.
Authorities added that they are in search of four more men related to gang and involved in the crimes and have launched a manhunt to nab them. "There are other cases of robbery registered against the four at CST Railway police station, Reay Road police station and at Mankhurd. We are searching for the four others," added SI Bhogale.
