Proposal to gift flats to Slumdog kids yet underway: Ashok Chavan

Rubina Ali's father Rafiq Qureishi told MiD Day this morning that he expected the state government to give free houses to his daughter as well as Azharuddin Ismail, the two key child artistes in the film Slumdog Millionaire, which bagged eight awards at the Oscars.

Rubina Ali's father Rafiq Qureishi told MiD DAY this morning that he expected the state government to give free houses to his daughter as well as Azharuddin Ismail, the two key child artistes in the film Slumdog Millionaire, which bagged eight awards at the Oscars.

Both of the chiild starsu00a0live in Garib Nagar slums in Bandra (E). "The two kids play pivotal roles in film's story. Their efforts played an important role in the film and has India world recognition,'' he said.

Today, Chavan said, "We have not allotted a flat to any of the children. The proposal is being considered.''
Mhada (Mumbai board) chairman Amarjit Singh Manhas has written a letter to Gautam Chatterjee, vice president of the housing authority, on the matter.
