Rajma beans led to the death of a 10-month-old infant in Juhu on Monday night.

The victim identified as Mohammed Ayaz Shaikh was playing while his mohter was having dinner at their Juhu residence last evening.

The mother, out of love, fed Ayaz some rajma beans. Ayaz managed to swallow one but the second bean got stuck in his windpipe.

Ayaz collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. His body was sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem.

According to a forensic expert rajma was found in the stomach and another in the windpipe, which actually choked the infant to death.

The Juhu police have registered an offence under section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code and have recorded the statement of the mother.

A police officer said, "From the prima facie it seems to be a clear case of accidental death and we do not suspect any foul play. The autopsy report is awaited."
