Senior citizen held for rape

The Kandivali police arrested senior citizen Ramesh Chaturdas Seth (64) on charges of raping a 21 year old girl.

"We arrested Seth last night after the girl's mother lodged a complaint against him. He was produced in a localu00a0court today, which remanded himu00a0to police custody," said S. Jaiswal, Senior police inspector, Kandivali police station.

According to Jaiswal, Seth had promised to arrange money for the girl's treatement as she was suffering from some illness.

On Tuesday, Seth met the victim and her mother and promisedu00a0to takeu00a0them to a trust which helps poor. Afteru00a0convincing the mother that only victims were allowed inside the trust, Seth took the girl alone with him, leaving the mother behind.

On the way Seth gave her a spiked drink, which made theu00a0victim dizzy and then he took her to a village near Gorai and raped her, the police stated.

He later dropped her at Borivali station. The victim after regaining consciousness told her parents about the incident following which they lodged a police complaint against the accused.
