The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to present the annual budget on Saturday and it is likely to touch the Rs 50,000-crore mark. The BMC's annual budget this year will be presented by the municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.
Every year, there is a 10 per cent increase in the BMC budget, this year as well it is expected to reach up to Rs 50,000 crore. In 2021-22, the Budget had a total outlay of Rs 39,083 crore while in 2022-23, the Budget had a total outlay of Rs 45,949 crore.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday directed the BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal (Administrator) to prioritise pollution control, strengthening of the health system, administration transparency, and the city's beautification while making the municipal corporation's budget.
