The first in-person meeting, since the pandemic started, of the 227 corporators in the BMC house was held on Monday. The last meeting took place in March 2020.
After continuous demand for the same by BJP and Congress, and an order from the HC, the meeting of the Standing Committee was finally held on Monday.
The meeting of the BMC house is held at the BMC headquarters at Fort. The Monday meeting, however, was adjourned owing to the death of the historian Babasaheb Purandhare.
The hall has a capacity of around 230 people but not more than 150 will be allowed in at any point. "For now, corporators can come in rotation into the corporation hall as approved by political parties," said an official from the BMC.
