In a good news for Matunga residents, the first-ever Cambridge Board-affiliated municipal school is likely to be set up at LK Waghji Marg, Matunga. A BMC education committee member hinted at the location in a tweet about his visit to the under-construction building. While the BMC announced the setting up of the school last month, the location was not disclosed.
"This building is under consideration as the final location for the Cambridge Board school. We paid a visit there yesterday to see the status of work. It should be ready by May," said Sainath Durge, member of BMC education committee.
Durge added, "Just like all other non-state board affiliated civic schools, this one too will be in a newly constructed building. It is a wrong notion spread by some from opposition that existing BMC schools are under threat with the beginning of new non-state board schools. These are completely new ones."
He added that the location is finalised as per requirement of area for construction of set floors, ground etc. The building, which was already under construction for a civic school, met all the parameters for the proposed Cambridge board-affiliated school.
With the new title âMumbai Public School', BMC education department is changing its skin. It launched two non-state board schools two years ago - one each affiliated to ICSE and CBSE; and 10 new CBSE schools this year.
