Maharashtra reported 3,160 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours up to Tuesday, taking the overall state tally to 19.50 lakh. The virus claimed 64 lives across the state, pushing total fatalities so far to 49,759.
Mumbai saw 539 new cases in the 24-hour window. In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan-Dombivli recorded 108 cases, 71 and 106 cases respectively.
The state's recovery rate now stands at 94.87 per cent, with 2,828 people discharged on Tuesday. At 93 per cent, the city's recovery rate trails a bit, though its doubling rate has improved to 363 days.
Mumbai's daily growth rate is 0.21 per cent and the overall cases now stand at 2.95 lakh. At present, 7,094 people in the city are down with COVID-19.

Of those who died due to coronavirus across Maharashtra in 24 hours, nine were from Mumbai followed by five each in Yavatmal and Panvel. According to civic officials, all were suffering from other ailments and five of them were senior citizens. Other than Mumbai, 13 deaths were reported in MMR.
The mortality rate of the state is currently at 2.55 per cent. Maharashtra also reported 1,156 deaths due to other causes. This means the deceased had contracted the virus and subsequently tested negative but later died due to other complications.
On testing front, the state has so far analysed a little over 1.30 crore samples of which 19.50 lakh have been found to be carrying the infection with a positivity ratio of 14.93 per cent.
