The city registered more than a thousand patients on the third consecutive day on Friday, but the number of cases was slightly lower than on the previous two days. There were three deaths. Even the cases in the state were slightly lower at 8,333 than the previous two days. But Amravati, Pune and Nagpur continue to register a higher number of cases.
COVID-19 cases are on the rise for the past two weeks in Mumbai. The city has been witnessing more than a thousand cases since Wednesday. On Friday, the cases were 1,034. The city had reported 1,167 and 1,145 cases on Wednesday and Thursday.
There were 22,133 tests conducted and the test positivity rate was 4.7 per cent on Friday which is less than the previous two consecutive days. However, it is still on the higher side than the first week of February when TPR was below 3 per cent.
There were three deaths reported in Mumbai, all had co-morbidities and were above 60 years of age. At least 712 patients recovered and were discharged in the city and the recovery rate slightly reduced to 94 per cent. There are 9,315 active patients in the city.
Dharavi registers patients again Dharavi registered 16 patients on Friday, after reporting zero cases on several days in January and February. There were 15 cases in Dharavi on December 3 and 18 cases on October 23. So it is almost after three months, that the area is registering a growth in cases.
The cases in MMR were 1,879 including Mumbai. Other cities like Thane (186), Navi Mumbai (135), and Kalyan- Dombivli (187) are also reporting a higher number of cases. But the number of deaths is low. There were two deaths in Navi Mumbai and one in Panvel besides Mumbai in MMR.
The state recorded 8,333 COVID patients on Friday, out of which Amravati (720), Pune Circle (765), and Nagpur (881) have registered higher cases. Out of 48 deaths recorded in the state, 14 were from the Akola circle which includes Amravati, 9 were from the Pune circle and 7 were from Nashik.
The cumulative number of cases in the state is 21.38 lakh and the recovery rate of the state has gone down to 94.4 per cent after a month. At least 4,936 patients recovered and active patients increased to 67,000 after reaching 30,000 in the first week of February.
