Daily cases in the city dropped below 1,000 - a first this month - to 960 on Monday, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation report. Mumbai also saw 11 deaths. The test positivity rate saw a marginal dip and stood at 2.10 per cent.
In the third wave, the highest TPR recorded in Mumbai was 29.9 per cent on January 6. At the peak of the second wave, the highest number of single-day infections stood at 11,163. Of the 11 deceased, eight had comorbidities. While one of them was in the age group of 40-60, the rest were aged above 60.
Around 87 per cent of the new patients were asymptomatic and 106 people were hospitalised, 30 of them in oxygen beds. The recovery rate was at 97 per cent with 1,837 patients being discharged while the doubling rate improved to 421 days.
The state also saw a significant drop in deaths as well as new cases, which dropped below 20,000. As per the report, 15,140 new cases and 39 deaths were reported across the state. The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 1.85 per cent. A total of 35,453 people were discharged and active cases stood at 2,07,350 on Monday.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region registered 2,068 infections, a significant drop. Thane Municipal Corporation and Navi Mumbai reported 187 and 324 cases, respectively - highest in MMR after Mumbai. While Raigad saw 162 cases, Vasai-Virar had 41 cases and Thane had 82 cases.
Other than Mumbai, the MMR saw 15 deaths. Kalyan-Dombivli saw six deaths, Navi Mumbai recorded four deaths and Thane had two deaths. On Monday, 91 new Omicron cases were reported in the state, of which 39 were from Mumbai. So far, 3,221 cases of Omicron have been registered and 1,682 of the patients have been discharged.
