Mumbai recorded its highest single-day spike of 11,163 new Coronavirus cases on Sunday, while the state recorded its highest one-day spike of 57,074. With this, the city's caseload is 4,52,445.
With the death of 25 patients, the fatality count of the metropolis reached 11,776, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement. A total of 5,263 patients were discharged from hospitals, which took the recovery count to 3,71,628. As many as 51,319 tests were conducted across the city on Sunday, the BMC said.
The COVID-19 recovery rate of Mumbai district is 82 per cent, while the case growth rate from March 28 to April 3 was 1.61 percent. The case doubling rate is 42 days, the statement said. Of the deaths in Mumbai, 18 had comorbidities. One death was below 40 years, 21 were above 60 years. Three deaths were between 40 years to 60 years.
Maharashtra recorded the highest one-day spike of 57,074 COVID-19 cases. At least 222 people died, according to the state Health department. At least 123 of these deaths occurred in the past 48 hours and 61 in the past week. Nagpur district on Sunday reported the highest 62 COVID-19 fatalities in a day. There were 45 deaths in MMR. The recovery rate of the state is 83.8%. The case fatality rate is 1.86%. There have been in all 55,878 deaths so far.
