After witnessing the second wave's lowest test positivity rate (TPR) at 1.26 per cent on Friday last week, Mumbai registered a significant rise for the third consecutive day on Monday as the TPR was 1.71 per cent. New cases saw a marginal dip on Monday with Covid-19 fatalities rising marginally.
As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 402 new Covid-19 cases and 14 deaths were reported across the city on Monday.
After registering a TPR above 2 per cent last on June 27, the city's TPR has remained below the mark.
The doubling rate improved and was 1,034 days on Monday.
Of the 14 deaths, nine patients had comorbidities, seven patients were aged 60 years and above, while two patients were in the 40-60 years age group. On June 8 and July 7, the city had reported single-digit Covid-19 fatalities in the second wave. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 577 people recovered and were discharged on Monday.
The state's new Covid-19 cases saw a significant drop as 6,017 were reported on Monday while fatalities dropped significantly to 66.
The state's fatality rate remained constant at 2.04 per cent as 13,051 recovered and got discharged on Monday. Currently, the state has 96,375 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal dip in new cases with 1,092 cases on Monday, including the ones reported in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Panvel with 104 and Raigad with 224 reported the maximum new cases in the MMR.
Thane reported 60 new cases while Navi Mumbai saw 80 cases and Vasai-Virar reported 30 new cases.
MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 10 Covid-19 fatalities. Palghar and Thane reported three deaths each - the highest in MMR after Mumbai.

Due to the limited stock of vaccines, Covid vaccination will be given only at 58 public centres on Tuesday. There are 309 public vaccination centres in the city. "The list of 58 vaccination centres has been published on BMC's social media handles," said a BMC officer. Meanwhile, more than 76,000 doses were administered on Monday out of which 43,000 were given by public centres.
