After recording the second Covid-19 wave's lowest test positivity rate (TPR) on Saturday, at 0.71 per cent, Mumbai witnessed a marginal rise in the figure on Sunday to 0.74 per cent. According to BMC, the number of new cases also went up, but only by five, to 267.
Fatalities due to the novel Coronavirus infection dropped to four on Sunday. On Saturday, the civic body had confirmed six casualties. All the four deceased patients had comorbidities, and while three were senior citizens, one was in the 40-59 years age group.
The recovery rate in the city remained constant at 97 per cent, with 308 people being discharged on Sunday. The doubling rate of infections improved further to 1,921 days.
The state witnessed a significant dip as Covid-19 cases fell below 5,000. On Sunday, the state health department recorded 4,797 new cases, as against 5,787 registered the day before. The number of daily Covid-19 deaths in the state also dipped, and was recorded at 130 on Sunday. The fatality rate remained constant at 2.11 per cent.

On Sunday, 3,710 people went back home after full recovery, leaving 64,219 active cases in the state.
The daily cases dropped marginally in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) as well. The region recorded 699 cases, including the ones from Mumbai. Raigad reported 95 cases, Panvel 77, Thane 48, Navi Mumbai 51 and Vasai-Virar 19.
A total of eight fatalities were confirmed in the MMR, excluding the ones registered in Mumbai. Navi Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar reported two deaths each, and Vasai-Virar, Raigad, Thane and Panvel recorded one each.
