Mumbai: Covid-19 cases dip further, stay below 500

While the state’s cases see a rise, fatalities in both see a slight drop

Mumbai's test positivity rate (TPR) improved further on the second consecutive day on Friday, with a dip in new cases and fatalities. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 418 new cases were reported on Friday along with six deaths. The TPR was 1.06 per cent, on Thursday it was 1.15 per cent.

While four of the deceased had comorbidities, two were in the age group 40 years to 60 years, four were in the age group above 60 years.

The doubling rate improved and was at 1,159 days on Friday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 360 people recovered and were discharged on Friday.

State cases see a rise

The state's COVID-19 cases, however, saw a rise on Friday. As per the state health department, 3,105 cases were reported. The state's COVID-19 fatalities saw a drop as 50 deaths were reported.

The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 3,164 people recovered and got discharged on Friday. Currently the state has 36,371 active cases.

Like the state, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal dip in new cases on Friday. As per the state report, 904 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.

Maximum cases in Navi Mumbai

Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 87 new cases. It was followed by Raigad with 77 cases. While Thane Municipal Corporation saw 70 cases, Thane had 6 cases and Mira-Bhayandar witnessed 37 cases. Vasai-Virar had 42 cases and Panvel reported 43 cases.

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered three deaths on Friday. Raigad, Thane and Mira-Bhayandar reported one death each.
