Mumbai: Daily cases rise to 116; city has 686 active infections

Mumbai on Wednesday reported 116 new Coronavirus cases and one death linked to the infection, taking the overall tally to 11,50,033 and the toll to 19,731, said the city civic body.

Of the 116 new COVID-19 cases, only seven patients were symptomatic, according to the BMC.

A day ago, the financial capital had logged 85 COVID-19 cases and zero fatalities, while on Monday, 51 people had tested positive, while one patient died.

The new COVID-19 cases were detected after 8,896 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, a BMC bulletin said. A day before, 5,361 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the city.

Mumbai's tally of recuperated patients rose to 11,29,616 after 111 more patients recovered from the viral infection, said the bulletin.

The city has a recovery rate of 98.2 per cent and has 686 active cases.

Maharashtra reported 492 fresh cases and three fatalities, the health department said.

A day before, the state had logged 408 cases and two deaths. Besides Mumbai, Kolhapur city and Satara district reported one death each.

The case fatality rate in the state stood at 1.82 per cent.

Maharashtra on Wednesday had 3,429 active cases after 562 people recovered from the infection, taking the number of recoveries to 79,68,736.
