The number of fresh Covid-19 infections in the city jumped significantly to 463 on Wednesday, from 313 the day before, showed the BMC's report. The growth in daily cases was recorded at 48 per cent.
Along with daily cases, the test positivity rate (TPR) also increased and rose past 1 per cent once again. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) report, the city registered a TPR of 1.2 per cent on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the TPR had dropped to 0.90 per cent.
The number of newly confirmed Covid-19 casualties, however, remained the same at four. All the four deceased patients were senior citizens and had comorbidities. The doubling rate continued to improve and was 1,324 days. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, with 558 patients recovering and being discharged on Wednesday.
Maharashtra's daily Covid-19 tally was 1,825 on Wednesday, higher than Tuesday's figure of 1,638. According to the state health department's report, 21 more deaths were added. The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent. A total of 2,879 patients recovered and were discharged on Wednesday. Currently, the state has 25,728 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal drop in new cases, with the state health department reporting 818 fresh ones, including those from Mumbai.

With 58 each, Thane city and Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR, after Mumbai. Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation reported 55 fresh Covid-19 cases. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered three deaths. Navi Mumbai reported two deaths and Vasai Virar one.
