A massive fire broke out at a penthouse of a high-rise building in Goregaon West on Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said.
According to the civic body, the incident was reported at around 6:11 pm in the upscale Anmol Pride building on Govind Ji Shroff Marg in Mahesh Nagar area of Goregaon West. The incident was reported to the BMC's Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).
"The officials of the Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and began a firefighting operation," the officials said.
The officials said, the fire was found to be confined to the 26th floor of the ground plus upper 27-floored building. It has posed challenges as the firefighting system on-site is reportedly not operational.

"Firefighting efforts are underway, with teams providing pump support to the riser system and focusing on combating the flames on the 26th floor," the officials said.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade declared the incident as a Level 2 fire at 6:27 PM, mobilizing a significant response team, including 01 District Fire Officer (DFO), 02 Assistant District Fire Officers (ADFO), 02 Senior Station Officers (SrSO), and 04 Station Officers (SO). The firefighting efforts are further supported by 07 Fire Engines (FE), 01 Hydraulic Rescue Fire Fighting Vehicle (HRFFV), 04 Jet Tanks (JT), 01 Aerial Water Tower Truck (AWTT), and 02 Hydraulic Platforms (HP).
The agencies mobilized to tackle the situation include BMC's Mumbai Fire Brigade, local police and the local BMC Ward staff, demonstrating a collaborative approach to address the emergency, an official said.
The civic body said that the fire was confined to electric wiring, electric installation, household articles, renovation materials, Adessive glue, Plywood, binder, furniture, doors, false ceiling, wooden frame windows, window glass, other chemical cans, etc. in Room No 2501 and 2601 closed duplex flat in an area about 2,500 sq.ft on the 25th and 26th floor.
The fire was extinguished at around 10:20 pm and no one was injured in the incident, the BMC said.
Meanwhile, in an another incident, a major fire broke out inside an industrial complex on Wednesday, the official said.
The fire broke out at the industrial complex near Mrinal Gore flyover in Goregaon area of Mumbai, the civic officials said.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the fire was reported at Asmi Industrial Complex at around 8 pm.
The civic body said that at least 12 fire engines and other fire-fighting vehicles were rushed to the spot for a firefighting operation.
The officials said that the fire was confined to a diesel godown and scrap materials in a few units inside the complex.
Mrinal Gore flyover was closed for traffic due to the fire, the officials said.
