On Day 2 of the BMC's drive to give the second dose of anti-COVID vaccine, glitches continued to mar the CoWIN app, limiting the number beneficiaries to only 212 health care workers. The teething troubles come amid a push by the civic body and state to inoculate as many as frontline workers.
Authorities said more four more hospitals will work as vaccination centres from Wednesday. These hospitals, however, have been allowed to immunise their own employees considering their large staff strength, said officials.
App fails again
On Monday, CoWIN, the digital platform that helps manage the logistics of the country's vaccination programme, failed to throw up names of people who were eligible to get the second shot. While many returned without a jab, scores waited anxiously for the app to be fixed. The day saw only 71 people getting the second dose.
"I managed to take the second dose on Tuesday after I was asked to return on Monday. There was no giddiness or any other symptoms. It was as smooth as the first one. Now, I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but I will not be putting my mask down and continue to maintain social distance," said a doctor.
The vaccination programme in Mumbai is being run through 105 units across 23 vaccination centres. So far, 1,25,342 people have been given shots, including the second dose. On Tuesday, the BMC had expected a turnout of 10,500 health and frontline workers, but 6,215 showed up.
Four beneficiaries reported minor adverse effects and were allowed to go after observation of half an hour.
