In a bid to revamp Dadar's iconic Shivaji Park, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray recently allocated Rs 1.25 crore from his Member of Legislative Council (MLC) funds.
According to a report in Times of India, the funds will be used to illuminate walkways at Shivaji Park. Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had allocated Rs 4 crore to revamp Shivaji Park.
In a letter addressed to Mumbai suburban collector Milind Borikar, Thackeray stated, "Many senior citizens and sportspersons use walkways at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park. But there is not enough light here and this causes inconvenience to citizens."
"So I request you to allocate Rs 1.2 crore from my MLC funds for additional illumination of this walkway," the letter stated.
