Mumbai's test positivity rate (TPR) saw a marginal rise on the second consecutive day after registering the lowest TPR of the second wave at 0.51 per cent on Saturday. On Sunday the TPR was 0.66 per cent and on Monday, the TPR was 0.70 per cent. The rise in TPR is attributed to less tests.
However, Mumbai saw a significant dip in new cases as the numbers fell below 200. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, there were 176 new cases along with four deaths.
Three of the deceased had comorbidities. While one of the deceased was in the age group 40 years to 60 years, the other three were above 60 years of age.
The doubling rate significantly improved and was 2,484 days on Monday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 295 people recovered and were discharged on Monday.
The state saw a significant drop in new cases and Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 656 cases were reported along with 8 deaths.
The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 768 recovered and got discharged on Monday. Currently the state has 9,678 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a significant drop in new cases.
As per the state report, 307 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 30 cases. It was followed by Navi Mumbai which reported 24 cases.
While Kalyan-Dombivli reported 15 cases, 13 cases were registered in Vasai-Virar and Panvel had 7 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered zero deaths.
