For the second consecutive day the city saw a marginal drop in cases on Friday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 262 new COVID cases were recorded after conducting 33,834 tests. The test positivity rate (TPR) was 0.8 per cent. Even the number of deaths fell to one. Meanwhile, 997 cases were reported in the state along with 41 deaths. "Even after Diwali the cases are within limit," said an administrative official of the BMC.
The deceased had comorbidities and was between 40 and 60 years of age. The doubling rate dipped to 2,136 days on Friday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 217 people were discharged after full recovery. The state saw a marginal drop in new cases and it was below the 1,000 mark. However, the fatalities increased. As per the state health department report, 997 cases were reported along with 41 deaths across the state. Of the fatalities, 15 were reported in the MMR and 16 in the Pune circle.
The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 945 people were discharged after full recovery on Friday. The state has 12,290 active cases. As per the state report, 461 cases were reported in the MMR, including the ones from Mumbai.
After Mumbai, Navi Mumbai reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 54, followed by the Thane Municipal Corporation, which reported 35 cases.
While Kalyan-Dombivili Corporation reported 21 cases, 26 cases were registered in Panvel. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 14 deaths, out of which 12 were in Raigad.
