Fifiteen years ago, on July 26 ,2005, Mumbai saw one of its worst floods that caused disruption and brought the city to a standstill. The floods claimed many lives and several people were forced to spend the night on the streets as they could not reach home. The local train services were majorly hit during the July 26, 2005, floods. According to reports, there were over 1,000 deaths reported during the floods. People took to the railway tracks as they did not want to be stranded and wanted to reach home quickly.

Many cars, motorbikes, and scooters were submerged during the July 26, 2005 floods in Mumbai.
At that time, it was the eighth-heaviest rainfall figure recorded in 24 hours - 944 mm (37.17 inches).
