On 19 August 2024, doctors in Mumbai gathered at Azad Maidan to express their anger and demand justice for the victim.

The medicos held placards, sloganeered demanding justice for the victim and also took a pledge to make the society safer for women.

Meanwhile, senior doctors Kunal Sarkar and Subarna Goswami were summoned by the Kolkata Police for their social media posts related to the incident.

The police accused Sarkar and Goswami of spreading misinformation and disclosing the identity of the postgraduate trainee doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered while on duty.

Sarkar and Goswami led a march of doctors from the Medical College, Calcutta, to the Kolkata Police headquarters.

The protest rally was stopped by police near Phears Lane-BB Ganguly Street Crossing, and the two doctors were escorted to the police headquarters.

Sarkar asserted that they were only seeking justice for the young doctor and had committed no crime, despite being accused by the police.
