In a chat with MiD DAY, Bidari reiterated that the image of the police have changed since this year, as they have detected 97 per cent of the cases and recovered 87 per cent of stolen property.
I must say that Bangalore is the safest city not only in India but in the world; Bidari said adding that there are few stray incidents which has negligible proportion compared to the incidents of other metro cities.

With the year coming to an end, how do you rate your performance as police chief?I shouldn't blow my own trumpetu00a0-- I leave to it Bangaloreansu00a0 to evaluate and rate our performance. Their Judgment will be final and we will take appropriate measures to correct if there are any flaws.u00a0

How has the city has changed in the last one year, from your point of view? The crime rate has come down to 15 per cent compared with the previous year. All of my 18,000 brother officers have strived hard to maintain law and order, crime detection and prevention. The city has a rich heritage of communal harmony. Bangaloreans are not only the best host for visitors across the world, but also don the role of policemen without uniform in terms of cooperation with the law enforcement agencies.

Any hits and misses this year? This year has been a wonderful experience I will remember foreveru00a0-- it's like a pat on the back. Though there have been some deficiencies, they are a part of this job life. Overall, we have performed well this year.

Any special security arrangements for New Year's eve?The city has been fully secured with the newly established commando force (FORCE 1), along with paramilitary forces. We will also deploy Reserve police apart from the regular police, to ensure peaceful celebrations. The city police is capable of handling any situation, and our officers are loaded with the will to handle any situation.

Should the police rethink about their alleged atrocities?Defects and deficiencies are part of any organisations. Despite this, the city police have performed well and whenever any allegation of police atrocity has been reported, as a commissioner I have taken disciplinary action proportionate to their mistakes.
