Kanteerava studio's Rs 55 lakh revamp may help revive fading glory of Kannada film industry
Forty-three years after it was built, Kanteerava studio is all set to get a new look, following its renovation, which begins today. A refurbished Kanteerava is expected to revive the fading glory of the Kannada film industry.

Post-renovation, the studio will have many new features like three km of new roads and lighted gardens. "Actor Shivrajkumar will flag off the renovation. I expect the studio to get a new lease of life," said Girish L Mattennavar, chairman, Kanteerava studios.u00a0
The new-look Kanteerava studios, now reduced to 12.5 acres from 17.5 acres, will have Rs 55 lakh spent on it in the renovation. The project is also expected to improve revenues of the loss-making studio.u00a0
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerceu00a0 (KFCC) welcomed the initiative. "I congratulate the chairman, Mattennavar. A renovated Kanteerava will help the industry, but I hope fees are not hiked as the industry is going through a difficult phase. We will discuss the issue with him," said Jaymala, president, KFCC.u00a0u00a0
On the agendaUpgraded asphalt roads; one-way roads to be made two-way; traffic island inside the studios; new entrance fashioned like a clapboard; art director Shashidhar Adapa's work will be displayed at places like the temple and court hall.
