He was attacked by members of the newly-formed Karanataka Nava Nirmaan Organisation (KNNO), who blackened his face.

Bellad was in Bidar to check up on the various developments. According to locals, Bellad hardly visits this area, and there have been no developments during his tenure.

Sou00a0 around 10 am yesterday, when Bellad was getting ready a tour of the area, a group of agitated youth surrounded him.u00a0

At that time, he had no bodyguards or party workers around him.u00a0

The group started asking him questions about what he had had done for the area. After they failed to get a proper reply, they grabbed him and smeared ink on his face.

Bidar Market police later arrested Sunil, Vittal Gayakawad, Prakash Kapalapur and Harish in connection with the incident.

Publicity gimmick?
BJP sources said that KNNO was formed after a split from the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, and they have only done it as a gimmick. However, Bellad decided to stay away from the complaint. "God will give them wisdom to respect the others," he said after the incident.

One-time victim Pramod Mutalik, Sri Ram Sene chief condemned this incident and said, "It is a dangerous trend and I condemn this incident. If this continues, whatu00a0 are the chances that there won't be a physical assault.
