Cops suspect war for supremacy within gang as two men shoot Mauli Shinde

In a clear case of intra-gang rivalry, history sheeter Mauli Shinde (24) and member of Baba Bodke gang was allegedly murdered by two of his associates in front of his house at Shivajinagar Gaothan around 9 pm. He was shot three times in the chest and also attacked with a sickle by suspects and prime accused Amol Pardeshi (25) and Amol Bodade (26).
Both the suspects are absconding. They also have several cases registered against them.
Relatives of the accused are currently being questioned at the Shivajinagar police station. Joint Commissioner of Police Ashok Dhivar also visited the crime scene.
A police official on condition of anonymity said, "The three are members of the dreaded Baba Bodke gang and are also accused in the Sudhir Rasal murder case that took place 5-6 years ago. It is a clear case of fight over supremacy on the gang's functioning." Shinde has a murder case and an attempted murder case registered against him at the Kothrud police station.
Shinde was externed from the city a month ago. Shinde was brought dead to Sassoon hospital around 9.45 pm.
The body is now in the morgue where it is awaiting post-mortem. The police also recovered a live cartridge in a lane a few metres away from the crime scene. They suspect that it must have fallen off from the revolver used by the accused.
Shinde is survived by his parents, brother and two sisters. Akshay, his brother, said, "All the others were at our home in the Gaothan. He was killed right in front of the house with the family members watching."
Shivajinagar Senior Police Inspector P Shinde, said, "The case is still under investigation and we are trying to nab the accused."
