A city-based firm to build houses free of cost for Jaffna civil war victims
A Bangalore-based firm will play Good Samaritan to the countless civil war victims in Sri Lanka. It will construct 'instant' flats in Jaffna, which will be handed over to the victims over a period of six months.
All this, at no cost at all to the victims. These one lakh houses will be built on the same lines as constructions for the slum board in Bangalore.
These houses will be flood and earthquake proof, unlike the ones built in Bangalore.

While the Bangalore model is of 300 sq ft dimension, the ones in Sri Lanka will be built in 200 sq ft and will cost about Rs 2.5 lakh Sri Lankan rupees.u00a0

Help for Haiti too? |
Groups working on rehabilitation of the Haiti earthquake victims have also approached the firm. "A group from the US has approached us for the construction of 2,000 houses in Haiti," added Rajesh. "If the talks are through, we will have our houses there as well." |
