Shahar Banu (50), joint director, co-operative societies, said that the incident occurred on February 8, when she left her office at around 6 pm. While she was on her way, her car was waylaid by two of the bank staffu00a0-- Hussain Saab and Basheer, who deflated the car tyres.

The duo started hurling abuses at her, for which Banu got out of her vehicle. The two started slapping her, and pulled her saree, even as passersby looked, and no one came for help. They threatened that they would kill her if she reported to work, and then left, leaving her in a state of shock.

Citing the reason for the attack, Banu said that Saab was disturbed because he had been transferred to the Belgaum branch. However, sources in the bank said that the transfer issue was just an excuse, and the duo, who are close to a former board of directors wanted to intimidate her. This was to stop her from filing a complaint against him and his board of directors who happened to be his family members.

But despite Banu seeking security, the Commercial Street police are yet to act. ACP, B B Ashok Kumar said that a case has been filed and they are investigating. However they have not yet decided upon providing security to Banu at this stage.

When contacted, Banu refused to comment, stating that she was not authorised to speak to the media. "I have not been given any security, and I would continue doing my job despite the threats and intimidation I face," she said.
