Students of the hallowed art institute are being made to wait endlessly for their marks cards leading to missed opportunities and botched futures
Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath students of the class of 2008 had to wait a full year to get their results. And some are still waiting.
With principals wafting in and out in the last 18 months and a bunch of disgruntled staff denied increments, it's the students who have had to bear the brunt of it.
With no marks cards in sight, those planning to pursue higher studies find themselves at a dead end.

Deepika Ramji who passed out in 2008 said, "I was supposed to do my Masters in Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore, but it's not happening since I haven't got my marks cards. I was supposed to go last June and now I can't make it this year as well. Whenever we go to our college for the marksu00a0 cards, they blame it on Bangalore University (BU). When we go to the principal, he tells us to check with the office but they don't respond properly. Once they said that the marks sheets of students whose names begin with 'D' have not come. How is that possible?"
Prabhu K Naidu, who completed his graduation in June 2008 and got his marks card only three months back, also has complaints about the staff. "They are lazy and don't understand students' problems," he said. "Even the management takes it lightly and doesn't act on complaints. I went to get my letter of recommendation but I didn't get it on time."
Just on time Abhijit, another student from the batch of 2008, got his marks cards only a few days back.
"Now we have to apply for the degree certificate which BU takes a few months to process. By the time we get our certificates, it will be nearly two years. They didn't even give us our provisional marks cards despite asking for it. There is no proper principal to complain to or who can take care of the issues. Students who went abroad for higher studies were supposed to submit their marks sheets within three months but couldn't do so," he added.
The common complaint is that college authorities blame BU for the elusive marks cards. But one student who went to BU says, "They said it'd already been sent."
While the ball is being thrown from one court to another, students are missing out on entrance tests and admissions.
Manjunath has already lost a year waiting. This year, he made it just in time to apply to the Faculty of Fine Arts at Maharaja Sayajiroa University of Baroda since the last date was June 30. "My sincere request is that this should not be repeated. There may be internal problems but why should students suffer?"
Abhilash has had a similar problem. "Last year," he said, "I had applied to IIT Mumbai for a post-graduate degree in design but was unable to go for the interview as it clashed with my BFA exams. This year, I applied again and have finished my first round of interviews. If I am through, I will have to submit my degree certificate (provisional) and the original in September. But the college says it's in BU's court."
