Nominations for the fifth CMS Vatavaran Environmental and Wildlife Film Festival set to begin in the national capital in October have been announced, with Delhi topping the list of entries selected for final screening.
To be held here from October 27 to 31, the festival will see 106 films, including 33 international films from 23 countries competing for the prize money of Rs 20 lakh, that includes cash prizes, trophies and citations.
Out of the 20 states, Delhi has submitted the maximum 28 entries while Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh came close with 14 and 6 respectively. There were a total of 366 entries.
The award winners would be announced on October 30 this year. M Veda Kumar, nomination jury Chairperson, said, "There are some very good films made by both amateur as well as established filmmakers.
Initiated in 2002, the biennial competitive festival which aims to create awareness on wildlife conservation and climate change will see films competing in categories including environment conservation, nature, livelihood, ecotourism, animation, forest for life among others.
