Bitter irony struck a 25-year-old woman, who paid the price for her wanton affairs with her life. Love is blind they say, but lust can drive one to death -- as was apparently the case with a 25-year-old who allegedly committed suicide on November 25.
Where's the money, honey: Deepanjali had allegedly dumped Sandeep
for Chandan, who earned more. Pic/Satish BadigerAccording to the police, the deceased, Deepanjali, left her fianc ufffde to be with another man, and then cheated on him too. However, when she realised that the third guy had duped her, she returned to her second lover, who refused to take her back and allegedly insulted her.
This, the police said, led Deepanjali to take the extreme step, but the cops are not ruling out the possibility of foul play. They have arrested Sandeep Kumar (27), who she was previously living-in with.
First love
Deepanjali, who was from Mandala, Madhya Pradesh, was in love with a local boy, Neeraj. Her family approved of their relationship, and got them engaged. But seven months later, she met Sandeep during an interview. They got close, and Deepanjali broke off her engagement with Neeraj, saying that he didn't earn enough. But the family was opposed to the idea, so she came to Bangalore with Sandeep.u00a0u00a0
They started to live in together, and Sandeep got them both jobs with different software firms. This continued for some time, but after nine months, she started having an affair with another man.
Money for nothing
Deepanjali had met Chandan on a train ride from Bangalore to Mumbai six months ago. Chandan told her that he worked for a software major, and earned Rs 1 lakh a month. This impressed Deepanjali, and she got off at Mumbai with Chandan, where they spent four days together. They returned to Bangalore, where they spent another day at Chandan's house.
The next day she returned to Sandeep's house as if everything was normal. She then went off to Chandan's house without saying anything two days later, and came back after three days. But Sandeep got suspicious, and questioned her.
They had a bitter fight, following which she packed her bags and went to Chandan's house, where she lived for two months. But she realised that Chandan had lied to her about his job and income. She continued to live there for five more months, until Chandan packed his bags and left for Mumbai.
After 15 days, she called Sandeep, and told him everything. But Sandeep allegedly said he didn't care, and abused her. The calls continued for a few days - she would call him, and he would allegedly hurl obscenities at her. This is when she decided to kill herself.
But the pou00a0lice are not ruling out foul play. After a thorough check of her email account, they found an email that pointed towards Sandeep, who they have arrested. But now they are not sure if it indeed was Sandeep who had sent that mail.
BNS Reddy, DCP, South East, said, "I've ordered a detailed inquiry because of the complicated nature of the case. We can't let Sandeep go yet, because she lived the longest with him, and he might be maligning her character. We are still collecting details, and will be investigating Chandan soon.
