Prabunath Singh, a former Bihar state minister, was found dead yesterday under mysterious circumstances in a train in Uttar Pradesh, railway officials said.
"Singh was found dead in the Vaishali Express at the Basti railway station in Uttar Pradesh," said Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector SK Rai.
Rai did not rule out the possibility of foul play behind the death, but said the exact cause behind it would need to be ascertained.
"We have sent the body for the post-mortem," Rai said.
Singh, a leader of the Congress party and a former finance minister in the Jagannath Mishra ministry in the '80s, was found dead on his berth.
The train was going to Bihar from Delhi, the police said.
