Neither the slowdown nor drop in sales figure seems to be deterrent for the automobile industry, as companies are all geared up to showcase their mean machines in the upcoming Auto Expo. In all, around 50 new launches across segments are expected to happen during the expo that will start from January 7 and will continue till January 11.

With the theme 'Mobility For All' special focus will be on green technology and organisers claim that this year's expo will be much bigger than the pervious ones. "The highlights include the unveiling of 24 cars of domestic companies, while eight from the sheds of the global players. Also, eight two-wheelers will unveiled during the five-day event," said, Rajive Kaul, chairman of the Steering Committee, Auto Expo 2012.

There will be around 1,500 exhibitors from 24 countries exhibiting their best machines in 16 halls, 10 hangars and the outdoor space that's spread over 1,15,000 sq meter area. "We had loads of entries this year and we have tried to give space to everyone. However, we had declined space to those who had approached us late," said Kaul.

However, number of people allowed to visit the expo will be monitored this year. "As Pragati Maidan can accommodate only one lakh people, we'll restrict the number of people visiting the expo. Around 70,000 people from general public will be allowed to enter the maidan, while the rest space will be reserved for the 30,000 people from the team of exhibitors," Kaul said. Although, the restrictionu00a0 on entry would take away the tag of being the second largest auto expo in terms of footfall, organisers do not want to make the event chaotic.
