The High Court adjourned the petition ofu00a0 corporator Katta Jagadish, and son of former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu yesterday, seeking to quash the First Information Report (FIR) by Lokayukta in connection with the land grabbing case.

Justice Ananda Byra Reddy, who heard the matter adjourned it to the first week of January after the Lokayukta sought more time to file objections. Justice Reddy also directed the Lokayukta police not to proceed with matter till the next date of hearing.u00a0

CV Nagesh, the counsel appeared for Jagadish, submitted that the Lokayukta police have no power to investigate the case under Prevention of Corruption Act, as the accused is not a public servant. "He is a councillor and does not come under the act," he said.

He also submitted that the investigating officer is not a competent authority to conduct the investigation under the prevention of corruption act.

The court has also directed them not to precipitate the matter in connection with a criminal petition by Muninarayanappa, director, Itasca, and former special land acquisition officer for Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).

The court has directed the Lokayukta to submit the records to the court in connection with the case.
