The political drama, which the state has been witnessing in the past few days, climaxed on an emotional note, as B S Yeddyurappa resigned yesterday. In all the hullabaloo, BSY supporters staged protests throughout the day, ardent 'fans' made self-immolation bids, MLAs threatened to resign and the man himself refused to budge till his demands were metu00a0-- all culminating in his resignation.

Emotions ran high all day as the former CM visited a temple to seek blessings on his last day in power and then headed to Palace Grounds, where he was felicitated by the Balija community. He eventually headed to Raj Bhavan to tender his one-line resignation. Meanwhile, a source close to the party reveals a shocking fact.

"All expenses, including stay and food for all the MLAs and the BJP high command have been borne by the state," claimed the source. However, when MiD DAY contacted the five star hotel where over 78 BJP MLAs, close aides of BSY and members of the BJP high command had been put up, the hotel management refused to divulge any information. According to claims made by sources, the expenses were in excess of Rs 10 lakh.
While room 216 of the Ashoka Hotel was the scene for high voltage political meetings over the last few days, the corridor outside the controversial room was the setting for another drama.

BJP MLAs and MPs from the state continued to visit General Secretary Dharmendra Pradhan and Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu to voice their support for the former CM, a small battle unfolded amongst the MLAs themselves.

"There was a mini battle between Minister Suresh Kumar and MP Suresh Angadi. The MP accused Kumar of backstabbing Yeddyurappa, with whose blessings the latter became a minister," the source said. With Yeddyurappa's ouster and the furious wars of words between various individuals, an inherent divide in the party came to the fore. It now remains to be seen if the party will proceed ahead with the newly chosen chief
minister.
