Unless, of course, you lend a hand. A photo show seeks an answer to why 35 lakh kids worldwide live in hunger when there's enough food for everyone
Unless, of course, you lend a hand. A photo show seeks an answer to why 35 lakh kids worldwide live in hunger when there's enough food for everyone
Hunger can be pacified by food, and hope. More than 1.2 billion people that's a sixth of the world's population live without food. Whileu00a0 various authorities strive (successfully or unsuccessfully) to better the situation, HungerFree Children, an ongoing photo exhibition, is one of the few art shows that demonstrates the gravity of the situation, and how we can better it.

Snap thatThe show has been organised by ActionAid a global anti-poverty establishment that works with slum kids, runaway children, children of sex workers, HIV positive children and children of Dalit families. Evocative images of slum children, runaway children on railway platforms and child labourers have been sourced from across the country to highlight how something substantial needs to be done to nip the problem in the bud. Involvement of children andu00a0 parents is welcome. "Over half of India's child population under the age of six suffers from malnutrition, and every fourth child in our country never gets to attend school. How do you wish for a bright future when we're still battling something as basic as hunger? The show undoubtedly lends a face to childhood wrecked by poverty, yet celebrates their fight for rights for a better tomorrow," explains Parvinder Singh, the curator.
Participating photographers are Tom Pietrasik, Sanjit Das, Liba Taylor, Des Willie and Atul Loke.
