Mother-son gang busted. Mother held while search is on for son
In a chilling replay of the story of Ratnaprabha and her gangster son Maya Dolas of Mumbai's Lokhandwala shootout incident, the Delhi police on Wednesday busted a mother-son gang involved in several cases of robbery.

Just like Ratnaprabha, who was Maya's constant support, in the Delhi gang too 55-year-old Meena Begum backed her son Naeem in his crimes for over 10 years. The police have arrested five members of the gang, including Meena but are yet to arrest Naeem, the kingpin.
The police also recovered vehicles and 21 quintals of almonds out of the 40 quintals which the gang had robbed from northeast Delhi recently.
According to the police, Meena has two sons who are both criminals. Her husband, who is a farmer in Ghaziabad, was against his family's criminal activities but could not stop his wife from backing their sons. "Meena Begum's son Naeem is the kingpin of the gang. But Meena was actively involved in planning the robberies and doing the reccee. She also took her share of the booty. We have recovered some items that the gang had stolen in the last few weeks," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satyendra Garg.
During interrogations, Meena revealed that she got involved in criminal activities after her son started committing minor thefts in the area. Over the years Meena became a part of the gang. "She was one of the most important

Last month, the gang had overpowered the driver of a TATA 407 vehicle and had looted 40 quintal of almonds worth Rs 30 lakh. The heist was shared among the gang members and a part sold in the market. In a separate incident, the gang had targeted another mini-truck and took away 26 cartons of readymade garments. |
