Are what you're served at Mocha ArtHouse, a new craft meets music meets munches lounge in town
It's the kind of place you've dreamt of, for long. Somewhere your girlfriend can satiate her cravings for fine art, your guy friends can backslap over a smoke, and your kid cousin, indulge in great grub, all at the same time.
You, in the meanwhile, can get recharged with some good music, without having to worry about how to keep all that differently-oriented company engaged. The spanking new Mocha ArtHouse is a step ahead of mall culture it's multiculture, under one roof. Here's hailing the pioneer.

So much to chew on: Inside, you can admire both, the art of craft and cooking. As the saying goes, what you see is what you get, in the gallery and gourmet alike. pics/Subhash Barolia |
Strict no to art snobsIf you think the place resembles one of those super-quiet, sophisticated and formal art-eat hubs, feel relieved.
The moment you enter this quirk-house, you remember what German philosopher-author Erich Fromm said.
'Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.' The galleries go wild in the paintings they wear, the cuisine is as classy as cool, and the music, just right to pump the mood. Enormous walls splashed in rainbow colours, fun furnishings like eggshell seats, swing-machine chairs and glazed dumbbell couches are just some of the stylish attractions. A 1,000 square feet al fresco area bang in the middle of the plush mall make it even more endearing. Then, of course, are the contemporary art installations, sculptures and photographs that come together to build a cohesive identity. Music-makers B.L.O.T are among the first to curate the hub.
Beating itThat brings us to the sound-about. The performances lined up at the art house include classical western music, electronica and Bharatnatyam, complete with coffee. "A coffee shop is a community space for people to interact, engage and exchange ideas. We're committed to presenting every form of emerging and cutting-edge art here," says Riyaaz Amlani, the man behind the initiative. Exhibitions by young designers, workshops by established professionals and interactions with visiting maestros are on the cards, too.u00a0
Neat eats Here, you'll get to gorge on the raws, which preserve essential vitamins, proteins and fats. Skimmed and soy milk in beverages, high fibre and multigrain bread in sandwiches and bagels and sugar-free alternatives for desserts are what we liked. The tomato pie, raw chocolate and coconut mousse, salads and vegetable juices coupled with yoghurt make your tummy happier. What takes the cake, however, is the calorie-count mentioned after each dish on the menu. Pretty much on the palette, ain't it?
