Two of her family members were also injured in the attack by the dacoits, who later decamped with gold ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs 80,000, they said.u00a0

The incident took place in the wee hours of Tuesday, when the gang of four dacoits broke into the house of one Shantabai Patel, after bolting the doors of their neighbours' houses from outside.

When Shantabai raised an alarm, the dacoits picked up a wooden stick in the house and hit her with it, in which the woman died on the spot, police said. When her two children came to her rescue, they were also attacked, they added.u00a0

Police have launched a search to nab the culprits.
