A fire broke out at the food court in Forum Mall at around 6.15 pm. The whole mall was evacuated and the fire was brought under control.

The fire was suspected to be from a tandoor oven in one of the kitchens of Transit, the food court in Forum.

"At first we saw smoke coming from the ceiling of one of the kitchens. The fire staff of the mall tried to put out the fire. Within five minutes the fire brigade arrived and put it out," said Muhammad Ali of Forum Mall.

Evacuated

Since the fire broke out in the evening and not at dinner-time, the food court was not full. "Immediately, the whole food court was evacuated. After sometime, to be on the safer side, we evacuated the whole mall including the cinema halls," Ali went on to add.

There were no casualties. "The damage is also mainly due to the false ceiling of the food court. There is no major damage to property," he said.
