Short circuit causes fire in mall's basement

A fire broke out in the basement of Forum Mall in Whitefield at 9.30 pm yesterday. A short-circuit in the electricity board caused the fire, however, no casualties were reported.


A fire broke out in the basement of Forum Mall in Whitefield at 9.30 pm yesterday. A short-circuit in the electricity board caused the fire, however, no casualties were reported.

Four fire engines with 12 firefighters in tow were rushed to the mall by 10 pm.

Four fire engines rushed to Forum Mall in Whitefield last night, as a fire broke out in its basement.


"We received a message about the fire at 9.50 pm and reached the mall in 10 minutes. The electricity board was completely damaged."

Fire Inspector K Ramesh told MiD DAY, "There was no major damage caused to the mall."


However, mall authorities denied the incident altogether. Kamal Zogi, a security guard at the mall, said, "There was no fire at the mall."

u00a0Zogi wasn't the only one who kept mum about the fire.

Gopa Kumar from Alert Commando, the security firm, hired by Forum Mall, said, "I don't know about any fire or damages caused by it."
