Make a beeline for the 8th Pune International Film Festival where you can watch films from all over the world and attend seminars on music and dance
Movie lovers can rejoice as the city is hosting a week-long bonanza of popular cinema. In its 8th year, the Pune International Film Festival will showcase 160 films from 48 countries alongwith seminars, discussions, exhibitions and award ceremonies. Interestingly, from this year, it has also become the official festival of the Government of Maharashtra.

Jabbar Patel, Director, PIFF, explains, "The themes of the films are diverse and showcase humanity at large. We are expecting a good response to the seminars on music, dance and lyrics," adds Patel.u00a0
PIFF will open with About Elly, an Iranian film directed by Asghar Farhadi. The highlight of the festival will be the awards bestowed on films in categorises such as Best film in World Cinema, Best director andu00a0 Best animation film.
Six films from the National Film Archive of India will be screened. You can also watch 27 films from Egypt, Cuba, Slovenia and Hungary. The Retrospective section will feature films by legendary filmmakers like Manoel De Oliveira and Bimal Roy while there will also be screenings of films featuring prominent personalities who passed away this year.
